Darien Lake is one of the most amazing theme parks of the United States. It is situated in the state of New York and between the cities of Buffalo and Rochester. To be exact, the theme park is located in the village of Corfu. The park was initiated by Paul Synder in 1954 and at that time, Darien Lake was nothing more than a small picnic spot and campground around a beautiful lake. The lake later came to be known as Darien Lake. Gradually, Synder began to develop this picnic spot. To the picnic area and a small baseball diamond, he added a pair of water slides in 1970.

Later on, by the end of the same decade and early 1980's, the picnic spot had become an amusement park called Darien Lake Fun Country. HUSS Maschinenfabrik, the world renowned German manufacturer of theme park rides, then came into partnership with Paul Synder. Together, both developed Dairen Lake Fun Country into a North American hub of German theme park productions. This collaboration brought the park with rides that provided it with nationwide acclaim and popularity. Arrow Dynamics joined HUSS and Synder to give the park its first roller coaster in 1981. After some years, Synder sold half of the park's area to Funtime Parks who provided it with some major enhancements and changed the name from Fun Country to Funtime. This contract lasted until 1999 when one of America's largest amusement park companies, Six Flags came to own the park. Six Flags also changed the park in various ways making it more and more entertaining. However, some upheavals in its business also did affect Darien Lake. Until 2007, this amusement park had gone under CNL Lifestyle Properties who still own it. It is one of the largest theme parks I the country with camping facilities and on-site hotel.
